Updated: Feb 4

(Please note- Shroff Eye Centre is NOT the same as Shroff Charity Hospital)

Duration 1.5 yrs

1 fellow taken every session

Selection- interview

Stipend 70k

First 2-3 months you see OP and manage cases

You start retinal lasers by 2nd month

From 3rd month onwards (or later) you start getting steps in retinal surgeries

You get mostly steps till the end of fellowship. No chances to do independent cases at the end since pts are all private pts.

You also get hands-on for macular surgeries and also, ILM peeling step.

Clinically you get to see good number of retina cases in OP.

You also get to do retinal lasers and give intravitreal injections but numbers of lasers are relatively less.

ROP exposure is minimal since not many cases.

No onco exposure, such cases are referred to Shroff Charity Eye Hospital for management.

No phaco training.

Dept is hectic but not toxic

Work starts by 9/ 9.30 and can go up to 7 or 8 (for OP)

Might go till 9 pm on OT days

No night calls, no Sunday duties

No camp duties.

Classes every week.

Overall, you get to do steps for common retinal surgeries but still need more experience post fellowship to become an independent VR surgeon.
